I was finally able to come down to North Melbourne to try out Mork Chocolate Brew House famous delicacies after seeing all these posts from social media. The interior of the brew house was simple and relaxing, with white walls and the minimalist design.

The brew house also sells baked goods which have all been made with Mork chocolate.

Salted Caramel Chocolate Slice

Since the cake wasn't on the menu I don't remember the exact name of what this was called. I do remember it was along the lines of a salted caramel and chocolate slice. 

For someone that doesn't like excessively sweet food, the slice did not suit my palate. It was too rich which left me finished after eating 1/4 of it.
 My friend 'D' on the other hand loved it but thought it was too rich.

Layered Chocolate ($8)

Hot/Chilled Chocolate, aerated warm custard with kaffir line and vanilla pod

The Layered Chocolate was delicious, the hot chocolate was smooth and flavoursome whilst the aerated warm custard added that extra kick to the flavour. Would definitely recommend this to anyone.

Campfire Hot Chocolate ($8)

Hot chocolate, beechwood smoke and toasted marshmallow

The signature campfire hot chocolate, I came here purely to try this as I saw it all over social media. Unfortunately, it was a letdown for me. The smokey taste of the hot chocolate was quite unique but as an overall drink, I wouldn't get it again as the smokey flavour was too strong.

Whilst the signature drink which I was looking forward to came to a disappointed, I'll definitely be back for the other signature drinks and baked goods as the relaxing ambiance was perfect for a casual chat

Dessert Adventures @ Scroll Ice Cream

Oh glorious ice-cream, where would I be without you. If you haven't heard of Scroll ice-cream and their awesome scrolled type ice-cream or all those cute instagram photos with the minions then you're clearly missing out. 

Recently just coming into popularity, these cute cupped icecream has everyone coming down to Windsor for some delicious instagram-able material

So many flavours!, a shame I was only able to try two of them

I don't know if this wallpaper is from a tv show but it's adorable.

The process of making the ice-cream which I assume, is that the mixture is put onto a cold-plate, which then eventually hardens.

After hardening, the ice-cream is then scooped into a scroll 

Banana or "Banananana" ($8 w/ student card)

To be frank, the ice-cream is average at best, the banana flavour was lacking in the ice-cream and didn't pair well with the other toppings. Whilst overall it was still an enjoyable dish, the hype of scroll ice-cream is because of the cute display with the adorable minion biscuits :)

Though I will definitely come back to give this place another try

Oreo Serious ($9)

Same as mentioned above, the Oreo Serious was average at best, though the flavours worked well with this one, the ice-cream itself wasn't as good.

Cafe Adventures @ Shortstop Coffee & Donuts

Mmm, delicious donuts & coffee, what more can you ask for?. Shortstop coffee & donuts specializes in a range of freshly baked donuts and hot coffees that draw in new and returning customers every day.

A shame that the store doesn't do cold drinks, as when I was craving an iced coffee when at the time, but nonetheless the hot coffees are still a delight.

The seating in Shortstop are quite cramped, especially since the store is usually filled with people wanting coffee and donuts so it's quite rare to see a vacant table / seat.

They also have their coffee beans on sale if you love their coffee.

I came here at the hour before the store closed so the donut selection was limited, but nonetheless there was a great selection for everyone. 

Cappuccino ($4)

A refreshing drink, perfect for the sleep-deprived such as myself. Nothing that really stood out but just tasted overall a lot better which is to be expected for a specialty coffee store.

 New Orleans Iced Coffee Donut ($4.50)

The New Orleans Iced Coffee Donut was definitely the best donut from what my friends and I ordered. Packing a huge punch of flavour upon the first you it had a perfect level of sweetness and was perfectly paired with the cappuccino

 Earl Grey & Rose Donut ($4.50)

Didn't really meet up to my expectations, the donut wasn't as sweet as I thought it would be, but it's a great pairing with the cappuccino.

To be honest I don't remember what this donut was, and I can't find the name of it on the menu or online. But if you do see it around when you visit shortstop, what I can say is that the donut was pretty average. Didn't stand out in terms of flavour.

If you're someone that loves chocolate, then you'll know what Lindt is, and if you love Lindt, then I introduce to you to the haven of Lindt Chocolate Cafe. 

Filled with Lindt delicacies such as their signature chocolate items, cakes and beverages made with pure Lindt chocolate. You just can't go wrong here.

With so many options to choose from, it was a great idea that I came here with a group of friends so I could try numerous delicacies Lindt cafe has to offer.

Opera Cake ($10.50)

A layered cake of dark chocolate ganache, coffee buttercream and almond sponge

I was quite disappointed in the Opera cake, Though I feel like the main reason was due to coming to the cafe when it was just about to close but the Opera cake was really dry and didn't have that smooth, creamy texture that most cakes have. But i'm sure that if i came earlier it would've been a better experience.

 Salted Caramel Cake ($10.50)

Dark chocolate mousse, crunchy hazelnut and salted caramel ganache on a Lindt chocolate brownie base

The Salted Caramel Cake on the other hand was pretty good. A smooth and creamy texture, with a beautiful salted caramel taste, it was great mood food. The salted caramel ganache was a great addition as it enhanced the salted caramel flavour when mixed together.

Lindt Chocolate Brownie ($6)

A tad dry, but I wasn't expecting much from a brownie, it was pretty good on it's own with a rich chocolate flavour. But it was definitely lacking something to make it satisfying, perhaps ice-cream would've been a good idea.

Lindt Mocha ($6.50)

Layers of Lindt dark chocolate, velvety milk and a perfectly drawn shot of espresso coffee topped with a Lindt chocolate thin

Topped with a Lindt chocolate, it was an uplifting drink. I reckon on the high end of the Mocha drinks I've had. A bit pricey but it's definitely worth it.

Lindt Decadent Chocolate Milkshake ($8.50)

Lindt excellence 70% dark chocolate ice cream blended with with milk and Lindt chocolate.

Now if you love a rich chocolate drink, then you'll definitely love the chocolate milkshake. My first sip of this and I was in heaven, rich, creamy and enhanced with that extra dark chocolate ice-cream, I could easily come back just for this.

Espresso blended with vanilla white chocolate ice cream, ice and topped with icecream and dark chocolate flakes

The Iced Coffee was pretty average in my opinion, the coffee flavour wasn't strong enough which led the drink becoming too sweet for an iced coffee.

Dessert Adventures @ Movenpick (2015)

With so many stores around the CBD, everyone must know of the famous Swiss ice cream franchise Movenpick. I've had Movenpick plenty of times to try a bit of everything here and have only come to love a few dishes and flavours, but for this blog it'll just be the ice-cream.

Swiss Chocolate, Mint Chocolate & Maple Walnut Ice-cream ($9.95)

I can proudly say that my favourite ice-cream in Movenpick, and possibly in general, is the Swiss Chocolate. I'm not sure whether its the amazing chocolates bits in the ice-cream or how the flavour just gives a huge punch, but it's my all time favourite, highly recommend!.

The mint chocolate is also another great flavour, I've had other mint chocolates before and the one at Movenpick would rank mid-tier on the chart.

Maple Walnut was quite average and didn't impress me that much.

Espresso, Lemon & Lime & Strawberry Ice-cream ($9.95)

To be honest the other flavours didn't really stand out to me as much as the Swiss Chocolate did. Everything else felt pretty average with a few better and worse ones.

The espresso was normal, had a strong espresso taste, but a bit too strong for my liking.

Overall, I think that Movenpick does pretty disappointing fruit / sorbet flavours, the lemon & lime just tasted like lime and wasn't that great. I recommend sticking to the sweeter / non-fruity flavours. Same goes for the Strawberry Ice-cream.

Dessert Adventures @ Pidapipo

When I think of Pidapipo, i think of massive lines. It's especially suprising considering that Lygon st is the 'Italian' central of Melbourne. With tons of other ice cream stores on the same street, Pidapipo lives up to its reputation of top quality ice cream with their endless streams of customers.

3 Scoops Icecream ($7)

Banana milk, Nutella swirl & Fior di latte

After a grueling 20 minute wait in line I manage to secure myself 3 whooping scoops of ice cream. It was only an extra dollar for a third scoop, so i figured, why not. 

Confronted with the vast selections of ice cream flavours, I had chosen my 3 flavours.

Nutella Swirl

Banana Milk

Fior Di Latte

The 'Nutella Swirl' was definitely the standout for me. With generous amounts of nutella mixed in the ice cream, I fell in love with it at first bite. 

The banana milk was pretty good also, sweet, smooth and the taste of banana made it another favourite for me. 

The Fior di latte on the otherhand, wasn't my cup of tea. It was interesting if i were to comment on it, one of a kind. It tasted like sweet milk, but i had higher expectations for the flavour.

Dessert Adventures @ Guylian Belgian Chocolate Cafe

146 Swanston St, Melbourne Vic

As someone who isn't a huge fan of dessert cafes, i was actually pretty excited to try out Gulian as I've heard great reviews about it. 

Upon entering we stood around for quite a bit of time before one of the workers finally instructed us to sit at an available table.

Guylian Opera My Way ($13)

Belgian dark chocolate mousse with espresso coffee, butter cream layers, hazelnut and Belgian cocoa roulade

A delightful cake, it wasn't overly sweet which is to my liken and was smooth and delicious. Also surprised with the accompanying edible condiments which was pleasing presentation

Nothing spectacular, though better than average, it worked really well with the cake when combined together

Dessert Adventures @ Sweetie Mustache

Newly opened on Russell St, Sweetie Mustache is a dessert cafe / bar which specializes in desserts such as cake, honey toast, waffles, and also serves up bar food.

It's a shame i didn't take a photo of the interior of Sweetie Mustache as it was really nice and had a laid back atmosphere.

One thing i want to point out that disappointed me about this place is that there if you want to eat here, there is a $8 minimum per head rule which is pretty stupid.

Jasmine Green Tea ($4)

A pleasant start, though it turns out it was a packet of lipton green tea but it didn't really matter to me since it was good. Oh, and the fact that the cups were adorable and mustache-ficent, (no?, yeah that was pretty bad HAHA)

Lemon Cheese ($9)

NY cheese cake, lemon curd, lemon infused crepes & cream

The Lemon Cheese sponge cake was nice and had a creamy texture. Pretty good cake in my opinion, considering i don't actually like cakes that much. But i have a soft spot for cheesecakes so it was definitely a +1 in my books

Honeycomb Honey Toast ($18)

crispy honey toast cubes, vanilla ice cream, natural honeycomb, custard, honey, vanilla chattily, salted caramel pistachio,

The  honey toast was visually appealing and tasted great, it was unique that you were able to pour natural honeycomb and custard over the dish which made the experience better. The ice cream and toast combination, alongside the other toppings were pleasing.

The waffles were actually quite disappointing, though the toppings were fresh and delicious, the waffle itself was way too dry for it to be satisfactory.

Dessert Adventures @ Mocha Jo's

Venturing into the Melbournes East, Glen Waverly. I had stumbled onto Mocha Jo's, a friend took me there because they were craving sweets and i saw many great reviews about this place so i had decent expectations.

Mocha Jo's does both breakfast, lunch & dinner. But for this occasion, we wanted to satisfied our sweets cravings.

Mocha w/ extra espresso shot & Latte

It was around 10-11pm at night, and we thought coffee was a great idea. Safe to say i barely had any sleep :(. I don't remember the prices of the drinks but it was reasonably cheap. The mocha was delicious and paired well with the cake i had ordered. Whilst the Latte was quite average.

Caramelised Apple Cheesecake ($10.50)

Upon browsing the cake display, i had chosen the 'Caramelised Apple Cheesecake'. I was surprised it came with strawberries and i'm not entirely sure what the accompanying sauce was, but i will assume it was custard? (don't take my word for that). But it was definitely a great pairing, the cheesecake was sweet and wasn't too much for my tastebuds.

1st Date, Sticky Date ($13.50)

Sticky date pudding, vanilla bean ice-cream & warm butterscotch sauce

My friend had gotten the 'Sticky Date' and my god it was marvelous. This was my first time trying a sticky date and it surpassed my expectations by a mile. The combination of the sticky date pudding, vanilla bean ice-cream and warm butterscotch sauce was delightful. Next time i come here i will definitely be ordering this.
